Vermont Real Estate Vermont is situated in northeastern US and is the second largest of all the New England states. It is often called the Green Mountain State. Vermont is composed of 65 cities total. It is a relatively small state with a land area of about 9,250 square miles. The entire population is estimated to be less than 700 thousand. Among the other New England states, Vermont does not have a coast line along the Atlantic Ocean. Vermont has Montpelier as its capital. Its biggest city is Burlington. It is in Vermont where the best dairy products come from. The state is the top producer of maple syrup. They supply one quarter of the entire US production. Above these, tourism is still considered the state’s largest industry. A lot of visitors are in the state for winter to enjoy skiing. Several of the world famous ski resorts are found here like the Killington Ski Resort, Stowe, Jay Peak, Okemo, Mad River Glen, and Stratton. During summer, visitors are coming in for some mountain climbing and vacation. The resorts, hotels, shops, restaurants, and other similar places are where most people in the state work.
