Maryland Real Estate

The state of Maryland is bordered by Pennsylvania on the north, by Delaware and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Virginia on the south, and West Virginia on the southwest and west. Washington, D.C., the national capital, is an enclave along the Virginia border. The Potomac River forms most of Maryland’s western boundary and Chesapeake Bay deeply indents the eastern part of the state. 

The state is steeped in tradition and culture. During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Maryland was involved intimately in the attainment of independence of the country. The state was also deeply involved in the early struggles of the young republic.

Though the state has no official nickname, one of the names that it is called is the Old Line State, in honor of Maryland’s regiments of the line, which had the distinction of fighting in the American Revolution.
In terms of size, Maryland ranks 42nd among all the states, with a total area of 32,134 square kilometers. It has a climate that is characterized by generally hot and humid summers and cool winters. Maryland boasts of over 41% of the state’s land area, but large-scale forestry and lumbering typical of the South have not developed in the State.

In terms of population, Maryland ranks 19th among the 50 states. It has a population of over 5.2 million, which represents an increase of 10.8% over the past decade. This increase has also indicated a surge in real estate development, which real estate market values going steadily up. To date, Maryland residents residing in urban areas make up about 86% of the states total population. The state is one of the most densely populated with about 220 persons per square kilometer. As the center of politics, it is modern, fast-paced, and edgy.
