Idaho, being primarily a mountainous state, is an area of striking beauty. It has a striking physical diversity, from the Rocky Mountains, to its snowcapped peaks, to breathtaking plateaus and slopes, to some of the finest forestlands in the country. 

Since the 1940s, economic development has grown rapidly. In fact, the state has earned its nickname “the Spud State” because of its success is producing quality potatoes. But Idaho is not only famous for its potatoes. In its literal translation, the name Idaho means “gem of the mountains”.  Its mining industry is one of the main sources of income for the state. 

Idaho, being the 14th largest state in the Union, has an area of 216,445 square kilometers. Its climate is generally dry, with cold winters and hot summers, with cool and generally wetter conditions prevailing in the mountains throughout the year. With a total population of about 1.3 million, it is one of the most sparsely populated states in the nation. It has an average density in 2004 of about 7 persons per square kilometer. As such, it is a great place for young families to grow, with lots of space for kids to be kids, to run and play, and grow.

Indeed, family time is big in the state, with its famed National Forests and beautiful National Parks. Picnics, family trips are very prevalent in the state. Sports play a big role too, with skiing being one of the popular sports within the state. The world famous Sun Valley is one of the hottest spots to vacation at, both during the summer and the winter. Real estate development, though slow, is steady and continuous. Young families in particular, come here to live because of the important family values that this state retains, as well as the close-knit community values that it provides.
