Georgia Real Estate

Being the last of the 13 original English colonies to be established in what is now the United States, Georgia developed slowly and did not begin to prosper until late in the 18th century. However, during the start of the 19th century, the state flourished as an agricultural state, becoming one of the wealthiest Southern states in the 1860s. Even through the state’s decline with the onslaught of the Civil War, the state has recovered from historical depressions, and is now one of the steadily growing economies in the country. In fact, apart from its famed nickname “the Peach State”, Georgia is also known as “the Empire State of the South”, alluding to New York, which is known as the Empire State, and reflects Georgia’s size and its economy’s rapid development.

Georgia ranks 10th among the states, with a total population of over 8.1 million. In the past decade, it has exhibited an increase of 26.4% in population.

Georgia has a total area of 153, 910 square kilometers. It is the 24th largest in the country. It also has the largest land area of any state east of the Mississippi River. Its climate is uniform, with generally hot summers and winters that are generally mild.

Because of the state’s warm climate, flowering plants grow in great profusion in Georgia. The state is famed for lush flowering plants native to the state such as the trillium, galax, bellwort, and Cherokee rose, its state flower, among others.

Tourism is a major economic activity of the state, since visitors spend about $15.3 billion on the state every year.

While Georgia’s scenic mountainscapes, rivers, lakes and coastal areas are of interest to tourists, it is the state’s historical attractions that cause tourists from all over to travel to “the Peach State.” It is the state’s old word charm, as evidenced by its colonial homes and white steeple churches, lush foliage and colorful flora that brings tourists and migrants in droves.
