Connecticut Real EstateConnecticut is one of the 6 New England States in the northeastern United States. In fact, Rural Connecticut contains much of the charm of what was once colonial New England. The areas are characterized by white steeples, and colonial homes facing elm-shaded streets. Modern Connecticut, on the other hand, is an urban and suburban residential state. Connecticut has been a predominantly urban state ever since the end of the 19th century, despite the continued existence of rural areas within the state. Connecticut is the 3rd smallest state of the Union, with an area comprising only about 14,356 square kilometers. However, despite its size, Connecticut ranks 29th among the states, with a population of about 3.4 million people. The small state is rich in culture, melding cultures of the English, the Irish, the Italian, Quebecans, Canadian, Polish, Lithuanian, and Czechoslovakians. In fact, in the early 1900s, about 30% of the state’s population was foreign born. In the later years, that percentage fell to about 9% however. Connecticut’s climate is fairly predictable, with long hot summers as well as cold winters. The state’s climate does not vary greatly from place to place, and seasonal patters rarely change. Rainfall and snowfall is evenly distributed throughout the year, and droughts are uncommon. Connecticut Real Estate Information Connecticut’s real estate market growth is constant and continuous, and is largely attributable to the countless educational facilities found inside the state. Connecticut houses many nationally and internationally prominent educational institutions. Connecticut is home to Yale University, which is one of the foremost educational institutions in the country, and in the world. Other prominent institutions such as the Hopkins School and the Wesleyan University is also found in the state of Connecticut. It also boasts of nationally prominent private preparatory schools. Real estate market growth can also be attributed to the state’s production of weapons, sewing machines, jet engines, helicopters, motors, hardware and tools, cutlery, clocks, locks, silverware, and submarines. Its role as producer of the aforementioned products has earned it the nickname “Arsenal of the Nation”. As a popular resort area with its 250-mile Long Island Sound shoreline, the influx of inhabitants who come to the state to retire has contributed steadily to the state’s real estate growth.
